Cactus Mishap
Question: An employee was handing a fuel receipt to their supervisor on a windy day and it blew out of their hands and into vegetation by the side of the road. The employee went after the receipt and tripped. His face landed in a cactus and he scratched his cornea and damaged the lens of his eye. The injury resulted in a prescription and an eye patch. Is it recordable?
Answer: YES. The injury is work-related and resulted in medical treatment beyond first aid. The prescription is considered medical treatment but the eye patch is only considered first aid.
